When Richard Nixon shot himself (just like poor ol’ Charlie Brown,) Captain America became disillusioned with America. The story is here. Captain America also fought Ronald Reagan, who had turned into a snake-man. You’ll note that he never fought Clinton or Carter, and he seems on very good terms with Obama.
